Josh Hall
Owner, CEO
Josh founded J. Hall & Company with the mission of helping small business owners offload their books so they can get back to doing what they love—running their businesses! In his day-to-day, he orchestrates the operations on both the accounting and tax sides of the business, while also handling client relations and new business opportunities. He is constantly thinking of ways to use technology to expedite processes and scale businesses, both internally and externally. With a genuine love for people, he thrives on building meaningful connections both with the team and with our valued clients. When he's not immersed in the world of running a business, you can find Josh and his wife Ashley savoring culinary adventures in Austin’s vibrant food scene, attending a local sports match, and treasuring time with their two adorable kiddos and one dog, Brady, Cameron, and Cola.
Alec Finch
Director of Operations
Alec runs our Operations team at J. Hall & Co. and makes sure everything (and we really mean everything) gets seamlessly from point A to point B. On the tax side, he is often the main point of communication and helps clients to feel seen and heard whenever they have a question or need assistance. Originally from San Antonio, Alec now lives in Waco with his wife Bonnie, son Asher, and their dog Kubo. Outside of work, Alec loves to spend time with his family, listen to podcasts, watch movies, and support the five-time NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs.
Matt Foley, CPA
Director of Tax Services
Matt oversees the tax department with expertise gained from his dual degrees in accounting and business management from the University of Iowa, as well as his tenure at RSM US tax services. When he’s not delving into intricate tax regulations and providing expert guidance on what counts as a write-off, you can find Matt reading voraciously (especially what some might consider “dry material”), relishing the outdoors, and competing fiercely in spirited board game nights with friends.
Aimee Sanchez
Accounting Manager
With 19 years of experience in business administration and accounting, Aimee leads our bookkeeping team and acts as a co-manager and final reviewer. She specializes in corporate bookkeeping, with a special focus on small-to-medium sized businesses. When she’s not reviewing reports, you can find Aimee hanging out with her son, Xavi, and keeping up with Austin’s vibrant live music scene.
Valerie Terra, CPA
Accounting Manager
As a CPA with experience as a controller, interim CFO, and advisory manager, Valerie co-leads our accounting team alongside Aimee. Valerie loves to guide small-to-midsize businesses in their endeavors to grow and scale. Her passion lies in witnessing early-stage companies evolve and contributing to their success through financial management and strategic planning. Outside of work, Valerie enjoys keeping up with two young daughters, reading voraciously, staying active with Peloton classes, and traveling with her family in search of fun foodie finds.
Cori Burnside, CPA
Senior Tax Associate
Cori joins our team from BKD (now Forvis), a top 10 accounting firm, but is most passionate about helping local businesses and the small firm life. Working primarily on the tax side of the business, Cori excels in all things tax preparation, tax review, and tax workflow. Outside of work, Cori loves to travel to national parks and hike with her husband. At home, she enjoys spending time with their three pets—dogs Cookie and Teddy, and cat Sunny—playing the piano, crafting, and constantly reimagining the interior design of their log cabin.
Karyn May, CPA
Senior Accounting Associate
Karyn is one of our meticulous accountants whose knack for numbers is matched only by her dedication to empowering small businesses. She expertly handles monthly closings, account reconciliations, and financial reporting for our small business clientele. You can think of her as the piece of your brain managing the books so you’re freed up to focus on growing your business! Off the clock, Karyn loves to unwind with yoga and by soaking up the tranquility of nature.
Katie Carlisle
Accounting Associate
As one of our seasoned accountants, Katie handles monthly management reports, reconciliations, and all aspects of day-to-day accounting for our clients. She especially loves learning about different businesses and how they operate. Originally from Michigan, Katie recently embraced a new chapter in Florida alongside her husband and two children. Together, they love traveling the world and exploring their new home state, all while remaining deeply loyal to their beloved Detroit sports teams.
Sheri Rummel
Accounting Associate
With over 36 years of business administration experience, Sheri is one of our veteran accountants handling monthly closings, reconciliations, and reporting with precision and prowess. Outside of work, she treasures time with her husband of 40 years, Lee, their three children, four grandkids, and husky Cooper. When they aren’t with the kids, Sheri and Lee get away by hitting the open road on their motorcycles.
Linda Lowder
Accounting Associate
Linda brings over three decades of expertise as a seasoned CPA (now inactive), specializing in a diverse array of services including accounting, full-service bookkeeping, income tax preparation, and financial administration for small businesses and professionals. With a penchant for the personalized touch, Linda thrives in the dynamic environment of boutique accounting firms, where she can truly make a difference. Outside of work, she’s an avid runner who travels the world supporting her husband and daughter in their international marathon endeavors.
Jenny Fenn
Operations Assistant
Jenny acts as an operational/project assistant to Josh and works closely with Alec on operations, including running the company’s social media accounts. She grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, and currently resides in northeast Ohio with her husband Deven (and wants everyone to know this neck of the woods is way cooler than everyone thinks!). In her free time, she loves to venture outdoors, experiment in the kitchen, and volunteer at her church.
